Tony Fernandez

Tan Sri Anthony Francis Fernandez also known as Tony Fernandez who is from Malaysia. He is the founder of ‘Tune Air Sdn Bhd'   which introduced a cheap flight to the population with the slogan, ‘Now everyone can fly'. In addition, he probably is an example of an excellent  entrepreneurs because of he is willing to take risk with considering the effect of the short and long term. What is the risk? Risk is the likelihood of harm or loss that will happened. The risks he been taken are company suffer from depletion, lacked of cash flow and also the aeroplane accidents that may cause lots of people died or injured.

Furthermore, according to Air Asia Director Biography (2015), Tony appears as a hyperactive man and focused in what he interest only. He could have whatever he had, although still far from adequate as leasing his home and use all his savings to buy the company with a value of ‘RM1’. He takes a big risks to deal with it. For your understanding, Airlines company has two planes which is Boeing-old and they had a debt of RM40 million. However, they will be given six months only to pay off all the outstanding debt. Thus, Tony Fernandez was trying to solve this problem. It erupted when Tony Fernandez had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Mahathir in October, 2001. So, Dr. Mahathir advised he to purchase existing companies, rather than creating the own company.

After 11 September 2001, a period of the worst in the history of commercial aviation industry, causing many people thought that Tony Fernandez has become ‘crazy’ because there are no people at that time who dare to fly. They also predict that the Air Asia Company will go bankrupt. After a year, Air Asia Company  is able to explain the whole debt, and no longer suffer losses.

Besides, according to The Wall Street Journal (2015), Air Asia Berhad is able to operate schedule domestics and international flights to more than a hundred destination with spinning more than 20 countries. The most important is “ Now Everyone Can Fly”. Tony Fernandez provides an opportunity to everyone with a extreme low budget either you are poor or rich.

As a conclusion, we have learnt if we want to succeed in the future like Mr. Tony Fernandez, we should take risks. As we have the determination to do something, we are able to do it even though others thought we are crazy. We cannot stop the people to comment us but we can ignore the comments by others. Just do what we want to do.
